Carnival 2013

Our annual Firemen's Carnival will be held Monday, July 8, 2013 through Saturday, July 13, 2013 with the Annual Firemen's Parade falling on Thursday, July 11, 2013.  [read on...]

The Guardian Hose Company, Inc., located in Thurmont, Maryland, was organized in 1887. As volunteer firefighters, we provide fire and rescue services to an approximate 84 square mile area of predominantly rural area in the Piedmont physiographic region of Maryland adjoining the Catoctin Mountains (part of the Appalachian Mountains) in Frederick County, Maryland.

Comprising over 220 members (Active and Social), the dedicated men and women of Guardian Hose pride themselves on protecting our friends, neighbors, and visitors from the ever-present dangers of fire and providing rescue service when and where needed. For over 125 years, that is what we have done, and it is our intent to continue to do so.

Our Mission

"The purpose for organizing the Guardian Hose Company, Inc., Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland, shall be to assist in protecting the lives and property of the people of Thurmont and vicinity, and to assist in rescuing persons and conveying them to a place of safety; to extinguish fire and prevent its spreading to adjacent property; in case of collapsed buildings, to rescue all persons or bodies; to clear debris and to remove all weak or dangerous parts of the building."
