Photograph of a large group of people posed in front of the old combination Town Hall and Fire Hall. Unknown occasion. Note the date "June 20-21-22 1916" on what may be a banner hanging in the doorway. At the leftmost top edge of the foundation wall, immediately to the left of the double doors behind the crowd, is a small rectangular block. It is the cornerstone laid when this building was built and is engraved with the date "1890". This cornerstone was incorporated into the current Fire Hall when the cornerstone for it was laid in 1950. (Photograph from the files of the Guardian Hose Company). |
